Boston Brownstone Project Featuring Control4

This one was nearly two years in the making.  This was a full gut and renovation of a Brownstone in Back Bay / Boston featuring many Control4 products.

The systems in this home include:

A remotely managed network infrastructure including router, switches, Wireless Access Points, and intelligent power control.  Just like over a hundred and fifty of our other clients this system allows us to remotely troubleshoot most of the systems in the home without needing to be onsite.

With a system like this in place coupled with our Aftercare Support, this home can be monitored 24×7 with proactive support where the on-call support team that will be available via Phone, Email or chat!

Automation and control system: Control4 lighting, Shades control, and media control throughout the home.  With a system like this, the client never has to worry about leaving a light on, or the TV in the Gym or Den going and will dial the home down at night by shutting off all of the lights and TVs for you. Then come morning time, the system will automatically welcome you in the with accent light so you never wake up to a dark home.

Automated Shades: 37 windows with Qmotion shades throughout controlled by Control4.  Motorized shades are convenient, but when they are controlled by Control4 they are taken to the next level.  Schedules can be set to open and close specific shades or “zones” of shades depending on the time of day.  Or with the press of a button, you can close the Den shades, dim the lights and turn on the media system and be ready to binge-watch that next season of your favorite show.

Distributed Audio: Ten Zones of Distributed audio via Sonos using TruAudio amplification and architectural speakers.

Distributed audio is something we do in almost every home.  Making it as simple as possible while also delivering a great listening experience is key.  In this case, they were familiar with Sonos from their previous home that we have worked on for years, so we wanted to take that experience and deliver the same thing in this home.  They can be listening to the same music in every room while entertaining friends and family for a holiday party or they can listen to different music in the Den while someone is listening to NPR while reading the Globe on their iPad at the kitchen table.

Media Systems: Den Media Room with 5.1 audio featuring TruAudio custom soundbar,in-ceiling speakers, and subwoofer.  Plus four additional media locations with Sony OLED TVs all controlled by Control4 automation.  In a Brownstone, space needs to be used efficiently without sacrificing your entertainment experience.  This Den has all the amenities of a dedicated media room while at the same time being great space to curl up with their favorite book for some peace and quiet.

Outdoor Entertainment: A Penthouse Deck outfitted with a seven-speaker outdoor audio system using TruAudio Amplification, TruAudio Landscapes speakers and subwoofer in the green roof, and a large Sunbrite outdoor TV.

A roof Deck in Boston is a special thing indeed.  Especially when you can look up the street and see the Citgo sign standing above Kenmore Square.  Or gaze across the street and see the row teams scale the Charles.

But when you want to entertain you are going to want that sweet distributed audio system to continue to the roof, and when the Sox are playing up the road on a warm summer afternoon you will want to watch the game from the pool.
